Two suspects at large after armed robbery in Ocean Springs
Two armed suspects are on the run after robbing a man and pointing a gun at a woman in Ocean Springs. Authorities say the armed robbery happened outside a house on Holly Street early this morning.
An armed robbery on Holly Street has left Ocean Springs residents with an uneasy feeling. Fred Pike lives a couple houses away from where the early morning crime happened. “Kind of uncomfortable. We’re not familiar with anything like that happening before so it keeps us on our guard.”
According to Ocean Springs police, a man was approached by two armed men wearing ski masks outside his home just after 5 a.m. The men demanded the victim’s wallet and cellphone. The victim’s wife then came out of the house and the two suspects pointed their weapons, ordering her to go back inside. She returned with a shotgun, but the suspects had already left. “It’s very unusual. This place is a quiet neighborhood, never heard of anything like this happening before,” said Pike.
Before running off, the suspects threw the wallet onto the porch, but kept the victim’s cellphone. Although no one was hurt, neighbors on Holly Street say they’re ramping up security. Resident Phillip McCready said, “I’m a little apprehensive, but I’ll keep my doors locked and watch out and call the cops if anything keep the police presence up and that will deter them.”
While neighbors remain hopeful, police are looking for information. If you have anything that could help them with this investigation please call the Ocean Springs Police Department.
