Eighth annual Art Ability Fair

Five hundred and fifty people with disabilities had a fun filled day and explored a variety of art classes in Biloxi.
Today, Disability Connection held their eighth annual Art Ability Fair to 40 schools in the six southern counties of Mississippi. This year, the theme was ‘under the big top,’ a circus theme with activities that included pottery, painting, and some photography and dancing.
Disability Connection Executive Director Janie O’Keefe tells News 25 this event engages people with disabilities to fully participate in their communities. “Loneliness is the greatest disability, getting them engaged in the community, getting them out of their houses, out of their schools, getting them to interact with each other. This is a wonderful opportunity for socialization and fun. We all need that. It’s a very, very important part of our health.”
