Hibernia Marching Society’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade rolled through Biloxi
The party continues following the carnival season. The Hibernia Marching Society hosted its annual St. Patrick’s Parade in Biloxi this Saturday.
In the crowded Biloxi streets – bead necklaces from Mardi Gras still clung to trees and traffic signals when the Hibernia Marching Society floated through town.
The annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade was a welcome celebration not just of the Irish but of all nationalities – so say these out of towners.
Joanna and Meg come from North Carolina and Louisiana. They’re taking full advantage of all that the Coast has to offer – and what is the Coast personified if it isn’t the parades?
They say the celebrations are a great diversion from grim international news – a return to togetherness, when so much conflict is happening. “Being grateful that we’re not having to run from missiles. We have a little bit of freedom still.”
One recurring comment from out-of-town guests is how friendly and warm everyone is – despite the frigid winds cutting through the crowds.
The parade’s grand marshal this year was Mr. Keith Crosby, who led the procession behind the Biloxi Police Department. “The best part about coming out is meeting new people, catching all the beads, and freeing your mind from all the craziness going on right now. That’s the best thing in the world for us.”
With St. Patrick’s Day not yet here until the 17th, there’s still plenty of leprechaun magic to go around here on the Coast.
