Mississippi Aquarium plans move forward in Gulfport

Plans for the Mississippi Aquarium in downtown Gulfport are moving forward.
The City Council unanimously approved the first construction contract for the aquarium. W.C. Fore Trucking Incorporated submitted the low bid to demolish two buildings and complete other work.
The total cost for the aquarium is estimated around $93 million. Officials are expected to break ground in the coming months and the aquarium is expected to open by early 2019.
