Biloxi Annual Children’s Mardi Gras Walking Parade takes place Saturday
Children 12 and under are invited to march in a Biloxi tradition.
The annual Children’s Mardi Gras Walking Parade talks place in downtown Biloxi tomorrow. Registration starts at 9 a.m. underneath the I-110 overpass on Howard Avenue.
It’s no cost to families and children are given beads to throw.
The parade starts at 10 a.m., parading down Howard Avenue to city hall. There will be a post parade celebration with art activities, refreshments as well as costumes and float contests.
The parade was first put on 25 years ago by Bill Raymond and Ruth Hunt. Together, they wanted to educate children on the festivities and give them a chance to take part in them. Raymond said, “Being able to come back to the parade after this hiatus that we’ve had, I think people are excited about it because it’s going to bring the community together more, neighborhoods together, families get to come out and spend time together and have fun.”
The theme of this year’s parade is ‘Dancing around the World.’
