Shannon Nobles named D’Iberville Chief of Police

The D’Iberville Police Department has a new top cop.

Shannon Nobles will assume the role of chief in the D’Iberville Police Department. D’Iberville PD was established in 2008 and Nobles was one of their first officers hired.

He has 25 years of law enforcement experience and has watched the department almost double in size and expand to their new facility on Lamey Bridge Road.

News 25 checked in with Nobles for his first day as head of the force. He’s shadowing Chief Wayne Payne and will be officially sworn in on March 2nd.

As chief, Nobles says his focus is on building strong community relations, inspired by his predecessor Chief Payne.  “The big thing is service. I’m placed in this position to serve the community and that’s what we want to do. We have to identify the issues within the city and the only way to do that is have communications with our community and citizens.”

Chief Payne said, “Shannon was one of the first officers I hired here. He worked his way through the ranks to captain and was over administration and his expertise is community relations. Today in this country, outreach programs are very important with the relationships in the police department in our community. He will continue on what we started. I’m very proud of him and excited for the future of this agency.”

Chief Payne’s last day is March 11th. He’s dedicated the past 47 years of his life to public safety, spending the past 14 years with the D’Iberville Police Department.
