State of the System Address Gulf Coast Veterans
The director of the Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System briefed a small crowd in Biloxi this morning during the State of the System Address.
Director Anthony l. Dawson brought up five key topics in improving healthcare to veterans providing scalable measures, addressing socio-economic cultural factors, identifying barriers, building strong partnerships, and providing outreach to the high risk veterans.
Dawson highlighted the increase in hiring more providers, nurses, doctors, and mental health professionals.
He also brought up the quote elephant in the room veteran’s access to healthcare.
Dawson broke down the numbers of patients they cared for in 2016.
Dawson concluded the address by saying the system is not perfect, but is definitely strong.
He added volunteers at the VA Gave over 55,000 hours of community service in 2016.
