Misdemeanor amnesty program starting February 15th in Gautier
Starting tomorrow, February 15th through March 31st, the City of Gautier is offering an amnesty program to give people a chance to pay off any old or unpaid misdemeanor fines.
If you pay it in full, it will eliminate the possibility of being picked up on a warrant or any contempt of court fees that greatly add to the original cost of the fine.
Municipal Court Judge Amy St. Pe says the City of Gautier currently has millions of dollars in unpaid fines.
She says there is no need to fear coming forward because the amnesty program is meant to benefit the individual and the city. “Do not be afraid. We are not going to arrest you. That’s what this program is, an amnesty program. So, don’t be afraid. Come pay your fines. Get these old fines paid off for the city, for yourself, and not worry with the stress of an arrest warrant being issued for you.”
If you think you have any unpaid fines in the City of Gautier you would like to pay off, contact the municipal court department or stop by in person to find out more.
