Controlled brush fires in Jackson County

If you see smoke while traveling down interstate 10 in Jackson County, don’t be alarmed. Federal agencies are burning brush in two different areas.
The Southeast Fish and Wildlife Services Fire Management Division is burning over 90 acres in the Sandhill Crane Refuge. A larger burn of 1,000 acres is in the northwest corner of Jackson County near Old Biloxi Road, Indian Fork Road, and CC Road.
Drivers should be aware of smoke in the areas.
