Demand up for Mardi Gras throws as parades near

As parades are back on the Coast, so is the demand for throws.

At Coast Mardi Gras Outlet in Ocean Springs, they’re having a successful season so far. President Leonard Cooper Jr. says he once again sees patrons in the Mardi Gras spirit.

Business is bustling as people are buying beads and accessories for parades and balls. Toward the end of the work week, they’re expecting to get even busier with the Elks Parade rolling Saturday in Ocean Springs.

Cooper tells News 25 what the most popular throws are that you might want to get your hands on this carnival season. “Little bobble beads that are spring loaded so when you put them on and walk with them, they move around. They have a lot of coastal wildlife like dolphins, turtles, and sea life and mermaids, stuff like that. The kids really like those. They’re really neat.”

While supply chain issues haven’t affected their bead supply and Cooper says they are stocked up on beads, there is a limited amount of stuffed animals, clothing, and light up accessories.
