MLK Parade returns to Biloxi after being postponed due to COVID

South Mississippi celebrated Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s belated birthday as two big events were finally held over the weekend after being called off in January due to an increase in COVID cases.

Organizers of the MLK Parade and Battle of the Bands rescheduled the events to this past weekend and crowds showed up in full force along Biloxi’s street.

The parade was also a chance for independent business owners to show out and feed the masses.

Charles Pruitt, owner of Chuck’s Wagon, told News 25 how events like this help local businesses. “It gives you a chance to say, you know, you get to that point that you want to be your own boss. And your money is not limited – it’s whatever you want to get out here and make. All it takes is having a drive to do business for yourself, being a business owner, and it’s here to get. Everybody loves to eat. If you’ve got a good meal, you’ve got a good product, people are going to come out and support you no matter what it is.”

Biloxi Police Department assisted with traffic control.
