Dick’s Sporting Goods drops assault rifle sales

Dick’s Sporting Goods is no longer selling assault-style rifles after a gunmen killed 17 people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.
In a news release, Dick’s says it sold a shotgun to Parkland shooter Nikolas Cruz in November of last year. It was not the gun, or type of gun, he used in the shooting.
Dick’s says it already removed assault-style rifles from all stores after the Sandy Hook massacre, but will now remove them from sale at all ‘field and stream’ stores.
In addition to assault-style rifles, Dick’s will no longer sell high capacity magazines or firearms to anyone under the age of 21. Dick’s says it never has and never will sell bump stocks which allow semi-automatic weapons to fire more rapidly.
