Gautier man charged with attempted murder

Gautier police made an arrest yesterday connected to a shooting that left both suspect and victim in critical care.

Last month, officers responded to a shots fired report and found two men suffering gunshot wounds on Rue De Courmont Drive on the morning of January 24^th.

One of the men, Jorge Mateo, had allegedly shot his victim and then turned the gun on himself, though police would not say where the bullet wound was, pending the investigation. Gautier Lt. Jothan Hunter said, “Both individuals were temporarily treated at the residence by Acadian Ambulance and they were transported to Singing River Hospital and then USA Hospital for treatment. Once more information is available, and we’re able to substantiate more information concerning the case, and more parties involved, we’ll be more than willing to share that information with you.”

Both men were in critical condition when they were admitted to Singing River and were stabilized before being transferred.
