Ohr O’Keefe Displays African American Exhibit for MLK Day

Monday, more than 500 people took advantage of free admission at the Ohr O’Keefe Museum in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. 

A key part of the museum’s mission is to celebrate African American art and every year, it offers free admission on M.L.K. Day even though the museum isn’t usually open on Mondays. This year, the museum hosted civil rights activist, Flonzie Brown Wright, and showed off its African American exhibits.

Kevin O’Brien of the Ohr O’Keefe Museum says, “We think it’s so important to emphasize people like Flonzie Brown Wright coming in here, and we also have a very important African American artist, Margaret Vendryes, and we have a show called the African Diva Project, talks about race and gender and politics and all kinds of things like that.”

If you’d like to check out the African Diva Project, it will be displayed until March 7th.
