Former Shucker Corbin Burnes named NL CY Young finalist

Former Biloxi Shucker Corbin Burnes, now Milwaukee Brewers ace, is one of three finalists for the National League Cy Young Award, alongside Zach Wheeler and Max Scherzer.

Analytically speaking, Burnes had the best season of the trio, supported by his league leading 2.43 ERA.

The former fourth round pick blew away opposing hitters, posting 234 strikeouts in 167 innings of work.

He also led the league in strikeout rate, strikeouts to walks, FIP, and percentage of barrels.

Late in the season, he was even a part of Milwaukee’s first no-hitter since 1987.

The winner will be announced on November 17th.
