Final BP Town Hall Meeting
Today was the last chance for residents to pitch ideas to state legislators about how the BP oil spill disaster money should be spent.
Lieutenant Governor Tate Reeves hosted the third and final town hall meeting at MGCCC’s Gautier campus this afternoon.
The goal of the three meeting series was to get input from Coast residents on how they think the $150 million to be allocated this year should be used.
Lt. Gov. Reeves has been vocal about where he thinks the money should go, saying the majority of it should stay in South Mississippi where most of the damage occurred.
The state of Mississippi is set to receive $750 million over the next 15 years from the BP oil settlement.
