‘Operation Clean Sweep’ underway across the City of Biloxi

Cleaning crews are on the move in Biloxi this week as the city responds to the mess left in the wake of recent storms.

Workers from a city-hired pickup service will continue with ‘Operation Clean Sweep’ through Friday by removing piles of debris from the curb.

Residents are being encouraged to place tree limbs and other trash blown into their yards near the road for collection.

However, the city prohibits setting out hazardous waste like corrosive chemicals or appliances.

Biloxi Public Affairs Specialist Cecilia Dobbs Walton said the operation is city-wide. “Because of the recent impacts of the storms around the area we have a lot more debris in the city of Biloxi than we normally do. So, to help out the trash pickup, the City of Biloxi has employed some trucks to go around and pick up this excess debris.”

The city asks residents not to place items near utility poles, fire hydrants, or gas meters.
