Jackson County crash victim identified

The victim in Sunday morning’s fatal accident in the Big Point Community has been identified.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department says 17-year-old Jasmine Pierce of Ocean Springs was the victim who died at the scene after her car went off Big Bend Road and hit a tree early Sunday morning.
A post from the East Central High School Facebook page says “Hornet Nation is grieving for the loss of a special student. Words cannot express the sadness of losing such an amazing athlete and friend. Constant prayers for the Pierce family.”
The accident is still under investigation by the traffic division.
