Morning Star Baptist Gives Away 100 Turkeys

As families across America get ready to put a big dinner on the table Thursday, 100 more families who may have otherwise had to go without will have a turkey on the table now thanks to Morning Star Baptist Church in Gulfport.
This morning started out with a short worship service before community members started lining up. All 100 turkeys, donated by parishioners, were gone in about 20 minutes.
Pastor J.L. Franklin says this is something the church does every year to make a difference in the hearts of those who are without. “I’ve heard comments each year they’re excited about it and some things that happen beyond themselves, but we’re grateful that we can make a difference and maybe for at least a moment raise their hopes and let them know there’s a caring community and by all means there’s a church out here that really cares about their needs.”
Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church feeds those in need once a week, but Pastor Franklin says the turkey giveaway is something special they do every year for Thanksgiving.
