12/24 – Payton’s Christmas Eve Night Forecast

Santa continues to make his way to the U.S. and will be here within the next 2-3 hours!

Another surge of colder air moving into the region
tonight will provide for a chilly but dry and sunny Christmas
across the area. A light freeze will be possible across northern
sections of the forecast area both tonight and Monday night. In
fact, cool weather will persist throughout the forecast period as
a mean upper trough prevails across the eastern conus through the
week with occasional reinforcements of the cool airmass. Rain will
return to forecast area as early Tuesday and persist on and off
through Thursday night or early Friday as an overrunning pattern
develops as a surface wave moves along a stationary boundary
across the northern Gulf. The rain and clouds will act to limit
daytime highs to the 40s and 50s during the mid week period, with
the exception of some 60s across coastal areas of southeast
Louisiana. Dry conditions will return for the end of the week, but
rain chances will go up once again for the last half of the
weekend as another cold front moves toward the area.
