Supermarket Sweep Held to Raise Money for Salvation Army
Teams sped through the store, filling their baskets, racing against the clock to be the first to collect all the items on the list. Unfortunately WXXV did not claim the title. The winners were a team of three from Gulf Park Hospital. With the items collected in the sweep, Winn Dixie donated over $5,000 worth of groceries to the Salvation Army.
Alaina Cedillo, Administrative Director of Garden Park Hospital, says, “It was so much fun. We planned last night, had to have a strategy, and we really were excited about being able to participate in something here local to the hospital. It’s just down the road and to help support the Salvation Army.”
Michael Moore, Winn Dixie Store Director, says, “Well, it’s just a great organization and it’s a great partnership that we have with them. They do a lot for us and in turn, we like to do a lot for them too.”
In addition to the groceries, Winn Dixie presented the Salvation Army with an additional $10,000 grant, as well as $500 to replace the money stolen from the kettle last week.
