School nutrition convention in town

The Mississippi School Nutrition Association is in Biloxi hosting their annual conference today through Sunday.
The convention will bring over 600 members from across the state to the Coast where school nutrition professionals will network and find ways to improve their school districts.
This year’s theme is ‘bridging the gap between nutrition and academic success’ is about exploring ideas to enhance school nutrition programs. Child Nutrition Director Brad Barlow said, “We’ve benefited by different programs that we were able to initiate and we wouldn’t know about them unless we started here because we have presenters here from the United States Department of Agriculture, Mississippi Department of Education, and they’re on the front lines with offering grants and additional programs, such as universal free meals and how to make that happen. We’ve been working on that project for almost two years in Harrison County School District.”
Events will take place at both the IP Casino and the Mississippi Coast Coliseum and Convention Center.
