New Details Released About Hurley Murder
According to the Sheriff, the woman was killed by one of her neighbors and that man is now behind bars, charged with capital murder. An arrest has been made in the murder of a 55 year old Hurley resident, Frankie Fairley. Charles Hurley Sr., Frankie’s husband, says, “The part I miss about her more and she gave, you know, so her children could have, you know, and the children around her.”
Wednesday, Fairley was found stabbed to death in a field near her home on Polktown Road. According to police, 36 year old, Scotty Street, a neighbor of Fairley’s, stabbed Fairley to death and stole her van. He’s been charged with capital murder. Ezell says, “We know for sure that her car was stolen and it was also used in another crime over in D’Iberville, so that’s where the capital murder charge is coming from.”
Tuesday night, after Fairley first went missing, police say Street robbed a convenience store on Central Avenue in D’Iberville. Witnesses provided police with a description of the vehicle Street was seen using and it turns out it was the van belonging to Frankie Fairley. At this point, it isn’t clear if Fairley was murdered before or after the robbery. Ezell closes, “We have some information about where she was, some timelines on that. We have some video of this guy at the D’Iberville store.”
Another man has also been detained in this case. Police call him a person of interest, but his name hasn’t been released. Street will soon have a preliminary hearing in Jackson County for his capital murder charge. If convicted, he could face the death penalty.
