Harrison County Sheriff’s Department Heads to Louisiana

Local law enforcement will be putting their cooking skills to use to help provide relief for first responders in Louisiana.
Harrison County Sheriff Troy Peterson says more than half of the officers they’ll be feeding lost everything in the floods. Law enforcement from Gulfport, Biloxi and Harrison County will be on hand to provide three hot meals on Wednesday and Thursday this week.
Sheriff Peterson remembers how help poured in to help us in the wake of Katrina and now it’s our turn to give back. “Times like this, when we’re not devastated, we’re high and dry over here. We’re fine. There’s families in Louisiana and Mississippi that are struggling right now that don’t have insurance, that don’t have anything at all. Part of what we do is we go over there and give back.”
Members of the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department have delivered three loads of supplies to flood victims.
They’re still collecting food donations for this week’s trip. If you’d like to help out, just drop off hamburgers and hot dogs at the county work center.
