8/18 Ryan’s Thursday Afternoon Forecast

High pressure continues to dominate the Southeastern United States. This would usually indicate clear skies, but there is still plenty of moisture, instability, and warmth in the area so afternoon, “heat driven,” showers are possible all the way through the weekend but widespread rain is not expected. Expect drier days and light winds which will eventually give way to the sea breeze in the afternoons, bringing additional heat and moisture in off the Gulf. An approaching cold front looks as though it will come close enough to cause an increase in showers around Monday, but isn’t likely to filter in any cooler/drier air in the long term.
