Group Honoring Orlando First Responders
A local group is leaving tomorrow to bring some Mississippi hospitality to first responders in Orlando.
A group from St. Joseph Hospice is packing up 1,500 pounds of corn and potatoes and shrimp from the Mississippi Gulf Coast and making the ten hour drive to Orlando tomorrow to host a big cookout for law enforcement officers on Thursday.
Mark Crowson with St. Joseph Hospice tells News 25 they’re looking forward to recognizing the officers for how they respondeded to the tragic shooting and thank them for their service. “We got to thinking about the first responders in Orlando and what they went through and we just thought it was the right thing to do. We’re going down there and see the first responders, shake their hands personally, tell them thank you for what they did for their community. We are also going to make a donation to Guardians of the Shield, which is for wounded officers.”
The following week the same group plans to travel to Baton Rouge to cook food for first responders and families working through the devestation of the recent flooding.
