Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra Receives Operational Grant
The state of Mississippi is making sure the Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra continues to provide engaging concerts for music lovers.
The Mississippi Arts Commission has provided a $26,100 grant for the symphony orchestra. The grant is only a small drop in the bucket for a commission that dishes out over $1.5 million in grants.
Whether it’s their trademarked “Sounds by the Sea” event or their opening reception and concert coming up in September, the symphony uses these funds and other grants to continue serving the Coast. Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra Executive Director Dhiana Skrmetti said, “We use this to help with our professional musicians to put on our concerts every year and keep providing the wonderful music we do for the Mississippi Gulf Coast. We do receive one for the youth symphony orchestra, which is our LINK Up Grant. It’s an art initiative to get third to fifth graders involved in playing orchestra with Carnegie Hall.”
