September’s Huntington Learning Center Teacher of the Month: Biloxi High School’s Katie Brandon
Every month, WXXV and Huntington Learning Center recognize an educator who is making a lasting impact on students both inside and outside the classroom. For September, that honor goes to Katie Brandon, a teacher at Biloxi High School.
Brandon, who has spent 14 years in education, earned her master’s degree from Jackson State University and currently teaches ninth- and tenth-grade students. Her dedication to helping students succeed earned her a nomination from one of her own students, who wanted to ensure her hard work and commitment did not go unnoticed.
When surprised with the recognition, Brandon said she was touched to learn a student had taken the time to nominate her.
“It is really heartwarming to have been selected, and I’m just so tickled pink that my student would take her time to nominate me because she’s very busy,” Brandon said. “It’s been a very interesting journey. It’s been a lot of fun and a lot of hard work. I’m very thankful for those educators who educated me so I can educate others.”
The student who nominated Brandon praised her caring approach and willingness to help students understand challenging material.
“She’s such a wholesome person,” the student said. “She takes the time out of her day to help me and other people understand the material more. A lot of teachers do that, but she does it in such a caring way.”
Teachers play a vital role in helping students reach their full potential, and Brandon’s impact is evident through the connections she has built with her students and the support she provides each day in the classroom.
WXXV and Huntington Learning Center congratulate Katie Brandon on being named the September Teacher of the Month and thank her for her dedication to educating the next generation.
