LSU looking to rebound following loss at Mississippi State

Losing can be a slippery slope in college football, especially after the kind of defeat LSU took at Mississippi State on Saturday.
Next up for the Tigers is a two game homestand versus Syracuse followed by Troy, a pair of very winnable games before the rest of their SEC west slate, but that doesn’t make the pain of a 30 point loss just disappear.
All week they’ve been hearing the critics loud and clear about what LSU didn’t do and how the Tigers didn’t show up.
So, now it’s up to the seniors to block out the noise and keep one bad loss from snowballing into a losing streak. LSU Defensive End Christian LaCourture said, “Of course, it’s going to stick with you because it’s on your record and everything like that. But from that aspect once you watch the film and know who you’re playing next and understand that, you have to. There’s no choice. And there’s a great team coming in, and if you don’t do that and you overlook them and you’re going to have another loss and we can’t do that. We can’t afford that.”
LSU Nose Tackle Greg Gilmore said, “I laugh at certain things people say and just like I said they couldn’t walk in our shoes and do the things that we do. So I’m not bothered by it and like I say none of us look at it and we don’t care. And whatever they have to say, they can say it.”
The 37-7 loss to the Bulldogs was LSU’s worst since its 41-7 defeat at Auburn in 2014. The Bayou Bengals kick things off with Syracuse from Tiger Stadium at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
