Mississippi State president visits Gulfport High School
Everyone was saying Hail State at Gulfport High School as Dr. Mark Keenum, president of Mississippi State University, spoke to junior and senior students.
Dr. Keenum talked about the importance of getting a secondary degree after high school and even posed for a selfie with all of the students.
President Keenum tells News 25 that he understands Mississippi is one of the last states in the country with adults that have a college degree and wants high school students to continue to learn and develop after high school. “We’ve gotta have more college graduates to help attract businesses and industries to locate in our state. That’s all I’m doing. My message is to urge young people to think about their life and to prepare now while they’re still in high school and to prepare themselves for this changing 21st century.”
Dr. Keenum was on a trip to the Mississippi Gulf Coast for business. He likes to stop by high schools when traveling around the state.
