Community commemorates National POW/MIA Day

Imagine not knowing what happened to a loved one who went overseas to fight for our country and never returned.
A special gathering to honor soldiers missing in action and prisoners of war took place at the chapel inside the Biloxi VA this morning. Through patriotic songs, poems, and prayer, community members commemorated National POW and MIA Recognition Day.
A Biloxi woman, Anna Caire, whose late husband was captured by the Japanese during World War II, says many are unaware of what POWs’ had to suffer through. “These guys didn’t have much food. They didn’t have warm clothes and he got sick when he was over there. They drained his lung without an anesthesia. He had frozen feet. I’m so proud they’re recognizing these guys because so long they weren’t.”
The mass ended in prayer for families to be once again united with their loved ones and for those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
