Trending drier and cooler by the weekend

Meteorologist Sam Lucey has a look at the forecast for south Mississippi

We’ll start tonight with partly cloudy skies and temperatures dropping to around 62 degrees. Sunshine returns Thursday, with a high near 78 and a mostly clear, comfortable night ahead as temperatures fall into the upper 50s. Friday will bring another day of mostly sunny skies with highs near 78.

The bigger change arrives this weekend as cooler air moves in behind a north breeze. Saturday will stay mostly sunny with a high near 76, but temperatures will fall into the upper 40s Saturday night. Sunday will be a bit cooler, with highs near 70 and overnight temperatures dipping into the middle 40s. If you’re heading out early this weekend, you may want to grab a light jacket!

We’ll see a gradual warmup Monday and Tuesday, with highs returning to the lower and middle 70s. A slight chance of showers enters the forecast Tuesday into Tuesday night, but most of the forecast remains dry. Veterans Day is shaping up to be mostly sunny, with an afternoon high near 74 degrees.
