Representative Mike Ezell wins re-election for MS U.S. House 4th Congressional District
PASCAGOULA, Miss. (WXXV) — Votes have been counted and the race is over for Mississippi’s U.S. House 4th Congressional District seat – with incumbent Republican Representative Mike Ezell’s re-election for a third term, defeating Democrat Jeffery Hulum III and Independent Carl Boyanton.
A room filled with supporters Tuesday night as Representative Mike Ezell was re-elected to the U.S. House of Representatives for Mississippi’s 4th Congressional District.
The news came in at around 8:45 p.m., not even two hours after polls were closed. And by midnight, 96% of votes were in, with Ezell leading with 61.1% and Hulum III following with 35.8%.
We spoke with Representative Ezell just minutes after finding out he would serve a third term in congress.
“I feel great. It’s always good to win. You know, we worked very hard on this campaign. It’s been a good campaign, so it’s always good to win. And I’m very appreciative of the people of Mississippi that have showed up and supported me, and I won’t let you down. I’ll keep working hard for you everyday,” said Rep. Ezell. “You know, I was the sheriff here for many years. I was a police officer my entire life. I touched a lot of people. I served a lot of people, and it’s come back for me. I’m very appreciative of it, and I’ll continue to do the work. And I want to say, I want to thank my Democrat opponent Jeffrey Hulum. He ran a great race. He’s a good campaigner, so thank you for running a good race.”
Representative Ezell says his goals this term include focusing on flood insurance problems for residents across South Mississippi and continuing to support our ports and shipbuilding on the coast.
