Hancock County voters head to the polls

HANCOCK COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV)- It has been a busy election day in Hancock County, as residents cast their votes.

Among the biggest items on the ballot were the race for sheriff and the proposed school bond.

Election officials at a polling precinct in Diamondhead said voting has been steady all day long with lines of voters at times. Voting official Harold Manning said, “It’s been smooth, but very busy. We’ve done probably 1200 folks. There has not been a time that they haven’t had someone in there voting.”

Diamondhead resident Kelley McKnight said, “Today has been crazy. It has been a steady influx of people, but it’s really exciting to me to see so many people participating in the political process.”
