12th Annual AABE Golf Classic
The golf balls were flying in Saucier today for the 12th annual AABE Scholarship Golf Classic.
One hundred and twenty men and women took to the green, swinging for minorities who want to make a career in energy to have a chance at college.
For the past 12 years, the Gulf Coast chapter of the American Association of Blacks in Energy, or AABE, has raised over $100,000 in scholarship funds.
Today’s event will fund seven $1,500 scholarships. Scholarship recipient Quiana James tells New 25 what it means to her. “I want to graduate with honors in college and then I want to become a tax lawyer. This scholarship will help pay for my college or part of it and it just, college is expensive. I’m so thankful for it and they’re contributing to my future of success.”
Major sponsors of today’s event include Mississippi Power, Wells Fargo and Gulf Power, just to name a few.
