Long Beach woman pleads guilty in 2025 murder case
LONG BEACH, Miss. (WXXV)- A Long Beach woman will spend 35 years in prison for the 2025 stabbing death of a 68-year-old man.
Fifty-seven-year-old Daphne Diane Zeringue pleaded guilty last week to second-degree murder in the death of Gary Cooper.
Police found Cooper dead with multiple stab wounds at a home on Daughtery Road in Long Beach in January of last year.
Prosecutors say a witness saw Zeringue enter the home and stab Cooper. Zeringue later turned herself in and admitted to the stabbing.
A mental health evaluation found Zeringue competent to proceed and legally sane at the time of the crime.
She’s not eligible for parole or early release as a result of her sentencing.
