Biloxi man receives life sentence for child sex crimes
HARRISON COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV)- A Biloxi man will spend the rest of his life behind bars after being convicted of sex crimes involving a child.
Sixty-six-year-old David Patrick Burkart was found guilty of two counts of sexual battery of a child and one count of touching a child for lustful purposes.
Prosecutors say the victim was 13-years-old when he met Burkart online and later met him near the victim’s Gulfport home.
The victim’s grandmother discovered the two together in Burkhart’s car and contacted Gulfport police.
Burkart testified he believed the victim was 19 and denied engaging in sexual acts.
In addition to the two consecutive life sentences, Burkart is not eligible for parole or early release.
