Ocean Springs police investigating juvenile incidents following junior-senior war activities

OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. (WXXV)- The Ocean Springs Police Department is investigating two separate incidents involving juveniles following recent junior-senior high school war activities.

Police say a juvenile was struck in the eye by a projectile fired from an orbeez-style gun near King George Avenue. The juvenile was treated at an emergency room and the child was diagnosed with permanent peripheral vision loss in the affected eye.

No suspect has been identified.

In a separate incident, officers encountered about 13 juveniles during a disturbance near Clear Springs Road and Groveland Avenue.

The situated escalated after pepper spray was deployed, followed by BB guns being fired.

A female juvenile was injured by BBs and treated at the hospital, while a male juvenile was taken into custody on a simple assault charge.

Police are encouraging parents to speak with their children about the dangers and potential criminal consequences of these activities.
