Katrina Memorial Blood Drive begins in South Mississippi
BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss. (WXXV)- Donors are lining up to give blood as the Katrina Memorial Blood Drive begins its 21st year.
Tuesday’s drive took place at Central Bible Church in Bay St. Louis. This year’s series of drives stretches out over the span of two weeks.
The drive serves as a reminder of the Coast’s growth more than 20 years after Katrina and as a remembrance of those who lost their lives, but also those who helped us rebuild. Volunteer Kevin Moore said, “If you live on the Coast, we all remember Katrina. So, we’re giving back. There’s a big shortage of blood in the United States of America so please give blood. We’re all over the Coast pretty much every day. Go to redcross.com. We’re also looking for volunteers to sign up. It makes you feel better and it helps so many people to give blood because you need blood. Please give blood. Give us a pint of blood.”
The blood drives are scheduled:
- August 20: Randolph Building, Pass Christian from noon to 6 p.m.
- August 20: Pascagoula Senior Center from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
