Woman charged with embezzling church funds in George County

GEORGE COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV)- A woman is facing felony charges after investigators say she embezzled more than $80,000 from a George County church over several years.
The George County Sheriff’s Office says church leaders reported the suspected theft on July 17.
Investigators identified 56-year-old Loretta Fenton, originally of Lucedale, as the primary suspect.
Authorities say Fenton had since moved to Mobile where she was located and arrested with help from law enforcement there.
Fenton has since been returned to George County where she is currently being held at the George County Jail on that embezzlement charge.
