Vancleave woman sentenced in deadly drunk driving case

A Vancleave woman will spend 13 years in prison for her role in a 2025 drunk driving crash that claimed the life of a Biloxi man.

Prior to sentencing, 24-year-old Katelyn Posey pleaded guilty to felony DUI causing death.

Prosecutors say Posey was driving erratically on the Popp’s Ferry Bridge the night of the accident, crossed into oncoming traffic, and struck 45-year-old Leonard Ricco’s vehicle head-on.

Investigators say her blood alcohol content measured .128 percent, well above the legal limit.

In court, Posey described her decision to drink and drive as an ‘irreversible decision’ and said the events of that night continue to haunt her.
