07/30 Ryan’s “Slightly Cooler & Wetter” Thursday Morning Forecast

Expect things to cool down...slightly...later today as shady cloud cover increases.

Things are looking a little better out there as the temperature and heat index are going to be slightly lower than they have been! I need to emphasize the word SLIGHTLY there, as temperatures will only likely fall by 2-3 degrees from where they have been. That’s still enough to get the Heat Warnings out of South Mississippi, though Heat Advisories remain across the area. That means it’s still dangerously hot out there…just slightly less so. Please continue practicing heat and sun safety by seeking shade often while outside, wear light, loose-fitting clothing, sunscreen on exposed skin, or simply avoid the outdoors during peak heating hours…typically between 2-4 PM. The temperature and heat index will continue to slide slowly downward tomorrow and over the weekend as rain chances and cloud cover increase.

For today, expect a slightly cooler high near 96 degrees, with heat indices still reaching the 105-110° range. Cloud cover will increase from mostly sunny to partly sunny through the day, and afternoon shower/thunderstorm chances bump up to 30%. Winds are generally out of the southwest and light between 8-12 mph.
