Memorial Health System celebrates 80 years on the Gulf Coast
GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV)-Civic leaders and South Mississippi healthcare workers gathered for a celebration of one of our major health systems as it marks a major milestone.
Last week marked 80 years since the City of Gulfport and Harrison County entered into an agreement to create what is now Memorial Health System.
From its roots as Kings Daughter Hospital, the system has grown beyond Gulfport to include multiple campuses and clinics across South Mississippi.
The celebration included the unveiling of the 80th anniversary logo, the display of a new time capsule to be buried on the campus and remarks from CEO Kent Nicaud and Gulfport Mayor Hugh Keating.
Memorial leaders say they’re optimistic about the next 80 years for the health system.
