07/23 Ryan’s “Post-Bertha” Thursday Morning Forecast

Our post-Bertha weather is clearing up nicely, and will be much drier as we finish off the week.

Our weather post-Bertha will be much drier, though we didn’t end up seeing that much rainfall in the South Mississippi area anyway. In fact, we often see more over any given location with a random summer shower than we did over a 24 hour period as the storm passed south of us. Coastal locations averaged around 0.14″ for the day, while only Picayune registered more at just over 0.25″. Rainfall was sparse thanks to the northerly shear and dry air that forced Bertha away from South MS, though the storm surge did cause at least some issues with coastal flooding. Other than that it ended up just being a misty, cloudy, and breezy day.

For today, expect a “cooler” high compared to the start of the week with the high lingering near 91 degrees. The heat index will still climb into the low 100s, but not quite to Heat Advisory levels. Those days are coming again though, especially by the start of next week as sunny skies and upper level high pressure have temperatures up to 100 once again by next Tuesday.
