Pearl River Softball’s Christie Meeks is heading back home to join South Alabama Staff
After leading Pearl River Community College softball to the most successful stretch in program history, Christie Meeks is heading home.
Meeks, who spent the past seven seasons as the Wildcats’ head coach, has accepted the Associate Head Coach position at the University of South Alabama, returning to her hometown of Mobile, Alabama. During her time at Pearl River, Meeks compiled a 234-93 overall record and transformed the Wildcats into one of the nation’s premier NJCAA Division II programs. Her teams posted three 40-win seasons and reached the 30-win mark five times.
The pinnacle of Meeks’ tenure came this past season when Pearl River finished 48-7 and captured the program’s first-ever NJCAA Division II National Championship. It was the Wildcats’ first appearance at the NJCAA Division II Softball World Series, and they made the most of it by bringing home a national title. Following the championship run, Meeks was named the NJCAA Division II World Series Coach of the Tournament, while her staff earned National Coaching Staff of the Year honors. Meeks also built a reputation for developing elite talent. She coached five NJCAA All-Americans, including 2026 NJCAA Pitcher of the Year Ana-Grace Garcia, and helped numerous student-athletes continue their careers at four-year colleges and universities.
Her departure marks the end of a historic era for Pearl River softball. Under Meeks’ leadership, the Wildcats reached unprecedented heights, leaving the program in a stronger position than ever before. Now, Meeks begins a new chapter with South Alabama, bringing a championship pedigree and a proven track record of player development to the Jaguars’ coaching staff.
