Man arrested on one count of second degree murder in Gulfport

GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV)-A man is behind bars in Gulfport in connection to a shooting that left one person dead.

Fifty-six-year-old Carliss Demetric Rupert has been arrested and charged with one count of second-degree murder.

On July 7, officers with the Gulfport Police Department responded to Ohio Avenue in reference to a shooting.

Officers were notified that a gunshot victim had been dropped off at a local hospital, where the victim later died from their injuries.

The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin by the Harrison County Coroner’s Office.

Rupert was transported to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center where he is being held on a $1,000,000 bond.
