Harrison County deputy shot, suspects still on the loose
Investigators seek the public’s help in locating a man wanted for shooting a Harrison County deputy on Friday.
Authorities have spent the past several days piecing together evidence and following leads from the community. The deputy was sitting inside of his patrol car near Highway 605 and Jordan Road when a man pulled up and shot him in the chest Friday afternoon.
The officer was airlifted to USA Medical Center in Mobile for medical treatment, but has since been released from the hospital. The suspect is still at large and is described as a white male in his 40s with gray hair.
Officials say he is a little over six feet tall, weighing between 250 to 300 pounds. Harrison County Sheriff Troy Peterson said, “Very muscular build up top. The vehicle is going to have a bunch of copper wire in the back of it. Any information that we can gain from the public on the whereabouts of this person, please contact the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department or the Biloxi Police Department with any information you have.”
The deputy was wearing his bullet proof vest at the time of the shooting and only experienced minor bruising on his chest.
