Hotter afternoons with fewer chances for rain
Meteorologist Sam Lucey has a look at the week ahead
Tonight will be mostly clear with a warm low around 76 degrees.
Friday through Monday will feature mostly sunny skies each day with afternoon highs climbing from around 90 on Friday to the middle 90s by Monday. Overnight lows will stay in the mid to upper 70s, offering little relief from the daytime heat. South winds will help keep the air humid, making it feel even hotter during the afternoon.
If you have outdoor plans this weekend, expect great weather overall, but be sure to stay hydrated, take breaks in the shade, and never leave children or pets in parked vehicles.
Beginning Tuesday, our typical summertime pattern returns as scattered afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms become possible each day through at least Thursday. Not everyone will see rain, but any storms that develop could provide brief heavy downpours and some quick relief from the heat.
High temperatures will remain in the lower to middle 90s through much of next week with the heat index ranging from 102-105.
