Hyde-Smith co-sponsors insulin bill in Senate
Mississippi Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith is backing a bipartisan bill aimed at lowering insulin costs.
The Insulin Act would cap out-of-pocket insulin costs at $35 a month for people with private or employer-sponsored insurance.
It would also create a pilot program to offer insulin at the same price for uninsured Americans.
Hyde-Smith says high insulin prices are straining Mississippi families and can lead some patients to ration doses, increasing the risk of serious health complications.
The bill also targets pharmacy benefit managers, promotes generic competition, and would create a resource center and hotline for uninsured diabetes patients.
