06/12 Ryan’s “Summertime Heat” Friday Morning Forecast

Definitely feeling like summertime as heat indices creep into the triple digits again today.

It feels like summertime has arrived early once again in South Mississippi as the temperature passes 90 and heat indices climb into the low 100s! It’s not really dramatically hotter than it should be, only a couple of degrees above normal, but the high humidity is making it rather oppressive. On the plus side we’ll add see a little more cloud cover today which will provide a bit more shade, and also see at least a few short-lived showers that’ll cool a few lucky areas down. Rain chances linger in the neighborhood of 10% today and Saturday, but will begin to pick up a bit as we head into Sunday and the start of next week. That’ll be due to an approaching front and some tropical moisture moving in by Monday, so expect the rain to stick around a while when it finally moves in.

For today, expect a high near 91 with light southerly winds and high humidity, leading to a maximum heat index near 102°. Not quite Heat Advisory territory, but not far away either so remember to stay hydrated and practice heat safety through the weekend!
